Bubble Bobble

A bizarre but frighteningly addictive platform game from Taito in which you (and a friend if you had another arcade geek buddy) controlled two dinosaurs, called Bub and Bob, in their quest to rescue another dinosaur. The quest took you through 100 levels of ever-increasing difficult and surrealism (particularly level 62 if I remember correctly, where the most eveil space invaders ever created were after you!). Many, many 10ps pumped into this, followed by many nights stuck in front of the excellent Commodore 64 conversion.

I am surprised that they don't have the theme music here. I can remember that it was best not to kill the robots until the staff, shoe, or sweet appeared. Then afterwards a giant cake or diamond would come down the middle.

One of the very few games I've completed (on C64 - along with schoolmate). The only others include feud and dangermouse on MSX. Chuffed was an understatement.

My brother and I have very fond memories of playing this game as little children in the 80's (back when floppy disks were actually floppy!). Years later when we came across the nintendo version, it just wasn't the same... you just can't beat joysticks and an old clunky computer monitor.

My fav game! Taito have released many different versions, but you can never beat the original. I have completed the game - but I confess that I cheated! I have a copy for the Playstation. You have to battle a very large baddie on the last level by using lightning bubbles.

Many a fond memory of this great arcade classic. I can even remember the codes you could enter at the title screen to get permanent power ups using the joystick and buttons. Never did get all the way to level 100 although I seem to recall seeing others do it. Oh damn now I've got the game tune stuck in my head.
