Animal Kwackers

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Animal Kwackers were a group of animals that sang cool songs and told childrens stories. The four band members were Rory the lion, Twang the tiger, Bongo the dog and Boots the monkey.

I remember going to see an Animal Kwackers stage show once. A bit like a Rolling Stones gig but for kids.

I remember seeing it only once- the intro. had an animated sequence showing them all taking off in a flying saucer- "Do you believe in rock & roll! Into the starship and off we go!" I recall the four of them singing a version of 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon round the Old Oak Tree', they all had their names stuck on their fronts.

Still got a double album of this, can't remember where I picked it up, but I never get rid of a record, lol. They seemed to be the UK's answer to the Banana Splits, with better music, lol

I used to watch them at lunchtime regularly.Have recently been in contact with Steve (AKA Twang) who shared some good memories with me about their tours etc. I have 2 of their albums, and i also have the original studio YTV master tape of Episode 1 which i also had converted to DVD to prevent any chance of damage. Yep, a lot of kids thought they were scary, but it was so surreal, i loved it.
