Anglo Bubble Gum

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Anglo bubble gum was a flat round pink piece of bubbly that came in a yellow and pink wrapper. I think it was 1pence for one. You could blow huge bubbles for hours with it!

A favourite for sure but does anyone remember the liquorice flavour version? Called Spooky, if memory serves, same size but black and with a hole in the middle so it resembled a letter O (spOOky!)

I remember them but I’ve been asking around & everyone thinks I’m mad. I’m beginning to think I dreamt them! Your post is the only trace on Google that I’m not losing my marbles

God yeah i remeber thses you use to get the best bubbles out of them but they did make you feel like your jaw was going to drop off after and the flavour only lasted for about 2 minutes but for some reason as kids you would chew it for about 2 hours madness!!

Anglo was very hard when you first chewed into it, and the flavour was quite a sweet, vaguely fruity taste. But I remember it lost its flavour very quickly. You can still get them in some sweet shops - I've seen them recently.

I remember going to Tommys (local Newsagents) in the 70's buying Anglo Bubbly, and by the time I got home (only 5 minutes walk) my face and hair was covered with the stuff. Never stopped me buying it though, we had competitions with the kids in the neighbourhood seeing who could make the biggest bubble.
