Alison Moyet

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Alison Moyet first appeared as one half of the successful synth-pop band Yazoo debuting in 1982. After two successful albums the Yazoo duo split and went solo and Alison Moyet released her album 'Alf' which became a number one hit in the UK.

Alison is still performing today and has also become an actress featuring in the west-end musical 'Chicago'.

I'll always associate her first solo song 'Love Resurrection' with a river boat holiday we had on the River Severn in the July of '84- it had just been released and was much played on Radio 1. I used to drive our cruiser with my headphones on, I remember the intense heat, the smell of the river water on the breeze and the china clay barges unloading at Worcester's Diglis Wharf for the now long-gone porcelain works. She did a fine album of Cole Porter songs as well, I think maybe for charity.

Alison Moyet is do consert dates with Jules Halland Big Band in the Aurtem. Last year she put together a Best of Album and went on the road with that, I saw her in Brum. Shes still knocking the spots off the younger singers.

My favourite quote from Vince Clarke, about Alison Moyet: "Alison is the loudest singer I've ever heard. I should know, I've heard her up close".

i was only asking someone yesterday "whatever happened to Alison Moyet?"! chuffed that she's still working as she has a superb voice. Don't Go by Yazoo is one of the first electro sorta things i remember. Shame they split up - Vince's synths and her coice were so good.
