Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines
This is quite often, and quite incorrectly, called Stop The Pigeon, and I'm pleased that a site other than mine has got it's facts spot on again.
This featured Dick Dastardly, Zilly and Klunk as 3 people whose sole job it was to stop a carrier pigeon getting it's message across to wherever it was going.
Mutley also helped DD quite often, and during an episode it wasn't unheard of that he would gain a medal for bravery. Within minutes however, he'd have it stripped from his fur after a plan were disasterously wrong. Snagga Fragga Ragga.

It was never revealed exactly what message the bird was carrying, for who or what for, though Dastardly and his crew were trying to catch him for their 'Boss'(again for reasons unknown). 'Boss' never appeared in person, he was just a voice on the other end of the 'phone usually bawling Dastardly out for fouling up- and you never heard actual words, just obscure growlings and snarlings that conveyed anger!
I remember that when Zilly got scared, he would escape from his flying clothes, leaving his greatcoat and boots to run along on their own while he was up a tree or something.
