Saturday Banana

This live children's television programme was ITV's rival to the bbc's Swap-Shop and was presented by Bill Oddie (from the Goodies) and assorted kids. The show was broadcast on saturday mornings during the summer & autumn of 1978 and this was where the beloved but annoying robot 'Metal Mickey' made his debut!

The broadcasters were originally going to call the show 'Saturday Bonanza' but an error occured along the way resulting in the wacky name, which was an equal match to the content of the show. The presenters always wore yellow t-shirts & the show starred a range of different guests including popstars and celebrities.

In addition to presenting the show, Bill Oddie wrote and sang the theme tune.
