Welder by day, exotic dancer by night, Alex Owens really wants to get into dance school and train to become a professional dancer. With a bit of encouragement from her boyfriend she does so.
The audition dance has to be the best bit, although I found out that a MALE dancer does the "stunts" in the dance (ie. the massive forward roll/leap). Like a lot of great movies, it wasn't just the plot we were into. 80s films especially were awash with amazing examples of fashions of the day. Flashdance in particular gave rise to the ripped sweatshirt look that turned an ordinary, grey sweatshirt into a fashion classic and had us all destroying our own sweatshirts to emulate her.
