Fry's Turkish Delight

Fry's Turkish Delight was a pink perfumed jelly-like sweet covered in milk chocolate. It bore only a passing resemblance to the traditional confectionary of the same name. Sticky and sweet enough to set your teeth on edge. I absolutely loved it!

It came in a metallic pink wrapper and the ad featured a harem-like setting and a nasal voice singing "Frys Turkish Deli-i-i-i-i-ght"

Sorry to hear that Baseman- may she rest in peace.
That old 'Arabian sands' ad. for Turkish Delight is still used in Wales- it can still be seen on S4C and ITV Wales from time to time.

Coincidence one of my friends is the son of the model that was in the adverts. She died years ago she was a heroin addict.

Surprisingly, Mrs QTToBe, Fry's Turkish Delight chocolate is quite low in calories compared to many other confectinary bars, certainly far less than Mars bars os just simple CDM.

I love Turkish Delight - they have changed the recipe slightly but it's still yummy! I can only eat one at a time though, and the thought of how many calories are in it is quite scary! The advert 'Frys Turkish Delight....full of eastern promise' with the pan-piped music and the girl in the sand dunes is my earliest advert memory...I love that advert! :)

Cadbury's Turkish Delight bars used to be nice, but a few years ago they committed the usual crime of changing the recipe (this was at the time they standardised all their filled chocolate bars, putting them all in similar wrappings), and they lost most of their flavour.

I've never been fond of Fry's - Marks and Spencer do a Turkish bar which has more of the rosy flavour I expect from this type of confectionery.

Can you remeber the advert, with the man and two women in the sand dunes.

..."Full of Eastern Promise"... Was the Turkish in them a jelly, or a goo like the Cadbury's ones ?
