Toys TOYS

Hoomdorm

The Hoomdorm was an air powered toy produced by Tomy between 1981 and 1984. It was a cross between a spider, kangaroo, car and alien vehicle (if that makes any sense). A hand pump was supplied and was attached to the rear of the Hoomdorm, which had an air tank. Once full the Hoomdorm would rise and the switch for it to jump off was released. Once released the Hoomdorm jumped/pranced forwards continuously until it ran out of air. The principle of the Hoomdorm was very similar to one of Tomy's other successes - the Air Jammer Cycle Slammer and Air Jammer Road Rammer.

Tomy released several other pneumatic toys that were similar to Hoomdorm, these included the Stoomdorm, the Floomdorm and the Loomdorm. Although these three other models all worked with pneumatic power they varied in the way that they moved. All of the Tomy toys were branded as being "space pets".

My High-Hopping Hoomdorm original is a family favorite c/1982 in original box. Kids and grandkids are "whoa!" The pump hose is a bit tired.

We had several Tomy pneumatics and really enjoyed the Hoomdorm. I wish they would issue a reprise of that series... I would buy them all! Especially great entertainment with cats....
