Survivor

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Survivor was one of the 'big hair' bands of the early 80's along with bands like Journey and Foreigner. Survivor's biggest single "Eye of the Tiger" was a chart topper and is still being played today on the radio and is even being used as a football team song for the Tigers!

I always had a soft spot for American AOR rockers Survivor, right from the time "Eye of the Tiger" became their first UK hit in 1982. No one hit wonders, they scored again in 1986 with the #5 hit "Burning Heart". They were, of course, bigger in America, and scored 12 top 20 hits including "Poor Mans Son", "American Heartbeat" and "Is This Love". Some people may also remember lead singer Jim Jamison singing the theme tune to "Baywatch", on the Survivor sounding "I'm Always Here"! Check out the bands "Prime Cuts" album for some classic AOR music.

Tracy is way off in comparing survivor with Journey and Foreigner. While Survivor was a one hit wonder both Journey and Foreigner release numerous classic rock songs such as Wheel in the Sky...Lights...for Journey and Hotblooded...Cold As Ice for Foreigner just to name a few. Also these 2 bands were hit the scene in the 70s..not he early 80s like Survivor did.
