S Club 7

The joint brainchild of BBC TV executive Malcolm Gerrie and Pop Idol/Spice Girls mastermind Simon Fuller, S Club 7 (Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara and Rachel Stevens) first came to our attention in April 1999, as the stars of the hit Children's BBC musical comedy drama Miami 7, about a young pop group struggling to make it in the music industry while doing a three month season in a rundown Florida hotel.

Instantly becoming a massive crossover hit with young and old alike, their first single "Bring It All Back" shot straight into the UK charts at number 1 in the summer of 1999. Over their five year tenure together as a group, they achieved other huge chart hits such as "Reach", "S Club Party", "Don't Stop Movin" and "Never Had A Dream Come True", the latter two of which were also UK number ones in 2000 and 2001.

They also had two more hit series, based in Los Angeles, called LA 7 and Hollywood 7, that sold to over 100 countries at the height of their career. They performed two sellout UK arena tours, won two BRIT awards in 2000 and 2002, won the coveted "Record Of The Year" prize and had a top 10 hit in America.

However, by the year 2003, after releasing a hit film, and having lost Paul from the lineup the previous year, they split whilst still at the top of their game, bringing to an end half a decade of unadulterated pop fun. But even to this day, the saying still rings true - there really ain't no party like an S Club party.
