A one-hit wonder that had a massive influence on the music industry. M/A/R/R/S had a UK number one hit in 1987 with "Pump Up the Volume" but never released a follow-up.

"Pump Up the Volume" was an important record in music history because it was the first track to liberally use sampling in a dance or mainstream pop record. The song used rhythms and beats from classic soul recordings and mixed them with the famous Eric B. & Rakim rap sample from which the track got its name.
