Jackie Wilson

Thought to be one of the greatest soul singers of all time. American born Jackie was born in 1934. His first group hit was "You Can't Keep a Good Man Down" which he performed with The Dominoes. In 1957, Jackie left the Dominoes to go solo and his first solo hit was "Reet Petite".

Jackie Wilson was shot twice in 1961 by his lover, Juanita Jones but recovered only to carry the bullet around for the rest of his life.

In 1975, at the age of 41 Jackie suffered a heart attack whilst performing on stage. He suffered brain damage and never uttered another word, he remained clinging to life for a further eight years. He remained hospitalised until his death on January 21, 1984.

Wilson's other hits include "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher," and "I Get the Sweetest Feeling."
