Ace of Base

When Ace of Base formed in 1990, Sweden hadn't produced as successful a band since ABBA, two decades earlier.

"The Sign", "All That She wants" and "Don't Turn Around" were Ace of Base's best known singles.

"It's a Beautiful Life" was a club hit, but after their 3rd album, "Cruel Summer", they've gone rather quiet.

'Happy Nation'.

Does anyone remember that song 'Always Have, Always Will' from the later part of their career? A departure from their usual pop-reggae style, this was a sixties Motown soundalike, with an intro which was very obviously "borrowed" from the Supremes 'Where Did Our Love Go'.

Amazing to add, but when it came out their first Album, 'Happy Planet' was the biggest selling debut album.
How? It still astounds me that a bunch of Swedish types doing cod-reggae songs / covers of songs sold so many. Horse for courses i guess!
