Zim Zam

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Zim Zam was just like Swingball where a tennis ball was attached to a long bit of string on a pole. It came with two hard plastic paddles and you 'played tennis' around the pole. It was loads of fun!

Does anybody remember a Toy / Game which had one ball (rugger shape), two ropes & four handles. When you pulled the handles apart the ball whizzed off along the ropes to the other player. How close did you let it get before you stopped it? What was the name?

Zim Zam was the best!! Wizzing that little tennis ball 90 miles an hour around the pole at your opponent! My parents would always throw these huge 4th of July BBQ's and invite everyone in town. There was always a DJ, a volleyball net was always set up, there were the lawn darts called "jarts", bocce ball, and then the zim zam. We'd play that game all day and into the night. Of course as the night went on, so did the "rules" to the zim zam tournament! Good times, man - I miss toys like that! oh yeah, and naturally there was always a random "hippity hop" that some kid would bring alon.

Our Zim Zam was a staple at the beach. We would quickly tire the kids out, send them to the tent and continue playing into the night. Always...boys against the girls. Girls ruled, of course.
