Anneka Rice, Kenneth Kendall and Wincey Willis help two contestants to find treasure by solving cryptic clues with the aid of a two way radio, a helicopter, a giant map, a library of books and Graham, Frank and Keith (camera, sound and helicopter pilot).

The idea of the game was that Kenneth Kendall assisted two contestants to solve five cryptic clues in order to direct Anneka Rice, in her helicopter, to the "treasure". Places of interest were included, as were lots of reference books in the studio.

Part of the game was that, although the contestants had contact with Anneka, they couldn't see her. There was usually a sound problem at some point in the programme too.

Wincey Willis' job was to track the course of the helicopter and to keep an eye on the time - letting the contestants know if they were ahead or behind schedule.

Some of the clues were hidden inside castles, or on bridges but sometimes Anneka had to complete an army assault course or take part in a stage play to earn the clue.

There was always the famous shot of Anneka's rear end climbling over a stile or running across a field, all encased in a yellow jumpsuit. The only time you ever got to view the cameraman was when he followed Anneka over said stile and the soundman had to take over for a minute.

Famous line from the show was "STOP THE CLOCK" when they had correctly solved a clue and received the next one.

    Whenever the contestants were really stuck, Kenneth would say "Oh wait a minute, look what I've just found over here in this book!".

    The whole family used to sit down to watch Treasure Hunt. There was usually one programme in each series that was filmed abroad - I remember the New Zealand one and I think one was filmed on Majorca - but personally I preferred the home based ones, especially if somewhere we had been was featured. I still have a few old episodes on video tape! I wasn't sure if the revival with Suzi Perry and Dermot Murnaghan would be as good, but after watching the first one, my worries proved to be unfounded as it was almost as good as the original. I agree, shame it didn't last longer.

    Treasure Hunt was great! I remember when one of the episodes was located near my home in the Llangollen/Wrexham area. They went to Chirk Castle, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Erddig Hall and finally The Boat Inn in Erbistock. I think it was filmed in '87 and televised in '88.

    I truly loved this show growing up. Its a shame the BBC2 revival with Suzi Perry and Dermot Murgnahan didn't last a bit longer

    I loved Treasure hunt, I even still have the board game of the show which we still play! It was wonderful to see so many beautiful parts of the UK. There was also a New Zealand episode that I remember enjoying immensely.
