Love Thy Neighbour

Love Thy Neighbour was a 70's sitcom that would be banned today. It was a highly racist (but very well writen and funny) tale of a black couple and a white couple living side by side. They spent most of the time calling each other Sambo and Honky etc. and getting at each other over politics etc. Starred Jack Smethurst ; Rudolph Walker ; Nina Banden-Semper ; Kate Williams

Colin S Cooper

Although this prog would be deemed as rascist by todays standard, I always found that the situations ended with the black guy getting the upper hand over the white guy and the white guy always being made to look like an idiot. very funny series definately.

The acting was really bad, but the dialogue was priceless. If it was shown today the PC brigade would have collective heart failure. It just goes to show how sensitive we've become.

I remember from the first episode!

"Thats it was have got to move!" to which the wife says.."We can't move just because he's black!"

"Its not because he is black...its because he is a bloody Torie!!!!"

If it was racist, it was racist both ways, it showed that bigotry isn't just a white issue, but I agree, they'd never let it be shown now, it made me laugh myself stupid

Never be shown in modern times on tv, the way people should behave about issues.
