Pea shooters

Pea shooters seemed to be far more popular in the past than they are today - I can't remember the last time I saw a child with a pea shooter. I don't know the history of the pea shooter but I'm guessing its been around for many years and has got many a naughty schoolboy into deep trouble with the headmaster.

If you look at any of the comics from the 80's you'll see loads of kids with catapults and pea shooters but they seem to have mysteriously disappeared from use today - does anyone know if kids still use pea shooters?

Hello everyone, peashooters seem hard to come across nowadays, so for anyone looking you can find some good ones at Peashooters.org. They're actually sold by the same people John Paster spoke of, from railriders.net. And they have ones that can shoot BBs too.

Can anyone tell me how to make a pea shooter out of clothes pens? I had one back in the 1960's. I could shoot matches with it too. They would light as they came out of the clothes pen.

I finally found a company that sells good pea shooters, made from metal, feels good, shoots better. They are really made well with this flared end, it's cool. It's a link on the page - railriders.net

My friend lost his eye through a pea shooter. We had this really rude dude in class whom made a pea shooter of a Bic pen. in stead of using the normal acceptable pellets out of paper he devised a needle tied to a match stick with cotton string. He hit my friend in the centre of his eye, resulting in blood flowing and damaging his eye permanently. My friend received a glass eye, he changed after the incident, left school in grade 10, no one heard of him again. His parents is stil looking for him today.
