The Great Muppet Caper (1981)

Wow! I saw this in the cinema and it was brilliant!

The Muppet Show tonight hadn’t been on TV for a year or so and I missed it SO much! I was young when Muppets Tonight was one, but it was by far my favourite TV programme. I loved the fact that my Dad also watched it, and we sat down as a family and all laughed at it. And it was the same with The Great Muppet Caper. We all went to see it together and laughed.

Just watching the start with all the Muppets in the outside world – rather than just in their television studio, was brilliant.

The film was basically a mystery comedy film and was directed by Jim Henson. It was the second of a series of live-action musical feature films and was released in July 1981. Amazingly, it was only released on DVD in 2001

The film was really funny too, and had all the regular Muppet Characters in it. There was the running joke that Kermit and Fozzie were identical twins and people could only tell them apart if Fozzie wore his hat. The film had some great actors in it too, like Diana Rigg. A really excellent film! In fact I might go and buy it, I havent’ seen it for AGES!
