This was a game in which you had to remove the plastic people from the mouth of a purple people eater.

It worked in much the same way as Operation, in that you used metal pliers to extract people from the monsters metal-lined mouth.

I had this and played it quite a bit, but after a few days it was decided by my parents that it should be kept at my grandads house, due to the fact that it gave me really bad nightmares.

(So just to recap, my parents, upon noticing that I was no longer sleeping peacefully at night, decided to NOT throw it away completely, but just control my access to it. Sort of in a "break him in gently" tactic. I no longer feared going to bed at night, but feared going to Grandads...)

    Hi dose anybody have a picture of the purple people eater from the 50 or 60 it was made of rubber I think and had thick wire legs and arms my sister lost it when she got married and shifted and would love to find one or a picture of one for her memories as she talkes about it and remembers when dad gave to her

    I had it when i was small & thoroughly loved it, i have been trying to get hold of 1 & have found 3 on ebay but unfortunately i have been outbid on all of them, im totally gutted. Waddingtons should bring it back!!!!!! Anita

    ha at last proof that the purple people eater game is real and not just a figmant of my imagination ... nobody i have ever asked remembers this game ... n i was starting to think my memories of running round with the squishy rubber guy on my head were "unreal" mamories !!! now i know the truth ... it was out there n i found it !! ;O) hehe

    Yeah I remember having this, I think it was one of my first games. I was very young, around 5 or 6. I didn't know how to play it at all, I just remember looking at it. And it had a strange plastic/rubbery smell from what I recall that I used to find quite enticing. In the end it got lobbed in the bin

    I remember owning this game, the little purple people, and the plastic/rubber monster with a mouth cut out, I used to wear it as a mask !, Does anyone have a picture of the game they can point me to?

    I have very vivid memory of this game, I was terrified by it and my sisters would chase me round the house with it to scare me! It game me many sleepless nights. I would love to get one again and see why it was so scary. If anyone knows where I could get one please let me know!
