This was popular in the 1980's though perhaps just with school children and older people (a wide deomgraphic!) It had a brilliantly cheesy TV advert as part of it's campaign - look it up on youtube). The advertising campaign used a swan, as that was the logo on the box. Gloria Vanderbilt was of course a 1920's actress and socialite, and so naming this perfume after her was a bit of marketing to bring about ideas of haughty elegance. The in reality the perfume just smelt a bit flowery.
